Every senior leader has sat in that meeting
The strategy is sound.
The people are smart.
The effort is real.
And somehow . . . nothing moves.
Robert Nicklin and Lesley Everett bring decades of complementary experience. Robert leading commercial growth from inside global organizations and Lesley coaching the executives responsible for delivering it.
Together, they wrote the book neither could have written alone.
The Growth Code ™ is for leaders who know their organizations and their people are capable of more and want to understand what truly drives sustainable growth.
What changes? Everything underneath the strategy. How leaders show up under pressure. What gets reinforced versus merely announced. How teams turn consistent behavior into measurable outcomes.
Revenue follows behavior.
The Growth Code ™ is the system that makes the right behaviors stick.

Growth doesn’t happen because people are told to grow.
It happens when behavior changes and holds.
Welcome to The Growth Code™.
Created by Robert Nicklin and Lesley Everett. The Growth Code brings together decades of real-world experience in leadership, growth, executive presence, coaching, and behavioral transformation.
One truth sits at the center of it all:

As September 23rd gets closer, I’ve found myself reflecting less on the book… and more on the journey that led to it.
People often ask me what I’ve learned from writing The Growth Code™.
The truth is, it hasn’t taught me what I expected. I thought it would make me a better writer. Instead, it made me a better observer. It taught me patience and the power of self-reflection.
It reminded me why journaling matters because when you take the time to look back, you begin to see that many of the moments you once viewed as setbacks were quietly shaping the person you were becoming.
Perhaps the biggest lesson of all has been learning to let go. After all, ideas never truly feel finished.
Every time I read a page, I see another sentence I could improve, another story I could tell differently, or another thought I could refine. If I allowed myself, I could keep rewriting this book forever.
But growth isn’t about perfection.
Sometimes growth means having the courage to say, "This is my best work today," trusting the process and letting it find its place in the world.
The journey has also reminded me how grateful I am. To Lesley, my co-author. To my family. To the mentors, leaders, colleagues, and friends who believed in me long before there was a manuscript.
One memory keeps coming back to me.
Over twenty-five years ago, I made it to the final two candidates for a job I desperately wanted, but I didn’t get it.
The feedback was that they believed I was dyslexic. At the time, it was painful. Looking back, it became one of the most significant moments of my career.
It made me think more deeply about how I communicated, both verbally and nonverbally. It made me more intentional about how I presented ideas, connected with people, and influenced behavior.
Ironically, those lessons became part of the very foundation of what would eventually become The Growth Code™.
It’s funny how life works.
The experiences that disappoint us in the moment often become the ones we’re most grateful for years later.
As Lesley and I prepare to share The Growth Code™ with the world, I find myself thinking less about publication day and more about every person, conversation, setback, breakthrough, and lesson that made it possible. Because one day people will finish reading this book.
I hope that what stays with them isn’t what Lesley or I wrote. It’s what they choose to do differently afterward.
After all…
Books don’t change people. The behaviors they choose afterward do. -

I learned so many lessons from my Track & Sign course in South Africa last week, and equally lots of comparisons between this experience and growth. One being:
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧.
When you're learning to track, your Guide and Assessor doesn't wait until the end of the day to tell you what you missed. They coach while you're looking at the track. They ask questions and challenge your assumptions. They help you notice what you didn't see. During the assessment they provide feedback on incorrect answers. In other words you learn in the flow of doing.
Leadership in growth environments is no different.
The most powerful coaching doesn't happen in annual reviews or scheduled feedback sessions. It happens in meetings, conversations, customer interactions and everyday decisions.
Growth accelerates when feedback is immediate, relevant and connected to the moment.
That's where awareness grows, where behaviors change and where learning becomes lasting. -
